The beauty of Taj cannot be defined in words. Innumerable visitors around the world come to India to see the wonder of the world -Taj Mahal.
Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. In 1631 shah Jahan went to the south for an expedition accompanied by his wife Mumtaz Mahal. But she died in childbirth. Shah Jahan was so disheartened by her death that the royal court went in mourning for two years and there was no music, no dancing, no celebrations and no feasting for two years. After such a long period when he recovered his consciousness Shah Jahan decided to fulfill her loving wife's last wish.
The venue he had chosen for the Taj Mahal was a garden on the bank of river Yamuna. He had brought the garden from Jai Singh in exchange of four havelis. He had selected this place for Taj so, that he could see it from his personal palace at Agra fort.
